State Parks

Bay View State Park - April 30th - May, 4th 2024

We arrived late Tuesday, 4/30, as we had to clear and clean out our AirBnb in Bellingham, WA.  This was officially our maiden trip to break in the van after finally completing it. It took two years to be able to hit the road full time. We picked this place to be close to our storage unit so we can adjust and pull things in or out of the van as we needed to adjust for the long journey ahead.

Deception Pass State Park - May 7th-10th, 2024

This was our new favorite State Park in the US.  Whidbey Island is already a neat area but this park makes it even better.  It's tranquil and serene. Maybe it's because we were here mid week avoiding the crowds. The park grounds are beautiful and clean. Each campsite is very private. Beaming with wildlife with the forest surrounding a lake that is on the verge of joining the Salish Sea. Olympic Mountains, San Juan Islands and Canada in the background. The bathrooms are also the best we've experienced at any campground.

Larrabee State Park - May 10th-12th, 2024

Larrabee State Park is a wonderful area but we're unable to get Starlink to work due to the trees and we don't get any cell reception.  It makes working from the park impossible. Instead, we stayed here for a weekend and enjoyed hiking to Fragrance Lake and walking to the waterfront.

Fort Casey State Park - May 12th-14th, 2024

We tried setting up at Fort Ebey but found it was like Larrabee - no cell coverage and Starlink wouldn't work. We pivoted to Fort Casey and enjoyed staying close to the water and ferry terminal.

Deception Pass State Park - May 14th-16th, 2024

We liked Deception Pass State Park (and their bathrooms) so much that we decided

Bay View State Park - May 16th-17th, 2024

We ended up staying at Bay View for a night as we wanted to be close to our Bellingham storage unit. We had to grab our gown, suit, and luggage for Greece as our flight to Greece departed the evening of May 17th.
